Things I don’t regret buying in 2022

I’ve been seeing this tiktok trend go around and like any good capitalist and shopping addict, I too bought a lot of shit in 2022. I put together (or depending on when you see this, I’m *planning* to put together) my favs in a few videos on tiktok, but for ease of shopping, here’s a whole post consolidating everything I bought this year that I loved and where you can get it too!

Things I Don’t Regret Buying in 2022

Abercrombie Sloane Pants

One of the more obvious number one purchases for me for this year, abercrombie came out with just about the perfect work pant. Unfortunately it seems like they’re trying to fix something that wasn’t broken, so when they changed them from the “abercrombie tailored wide leg pant” to the “abercrombie sloane pant” and switched from S/M/L to numerical sizing it looks like there are still a few kinks to be worked out. That said, the old ones are perfect (I wear an M regular but could also do small and/or short) so if you can get your hands on them I recommend. I have an exchange coming for my pair in the new sizing, going up one size to a 29 and going with regular length instead of short (the 28 short was a little too tight at my hips and a little too short for my 5’3 frame) — and hopefully with that they’ll be perfect too.

Naked Wardrobe Dress

I refer to this as my backup birthday dress because the dress I actually ordered for my birthday from AYM Studio didn’t get to me in time, so I ran to the Nordstrom down the street from my house and picked this up. Honestly grateful the original was delayed because this is one of my favorite dresses ever. Got my true size (M) and fits like a glove, the faux leather material is more like Spanx leggings than a vegan leather so its comfy and breathable, hugs all the right places, and is imo the perfect balance of sexy and classy!

H&M Crop Tees

My personal go-to gym fit is leggings and a cropped tee or crewneck and these are the perfect cropped tee. They’re great for the gym but easy and versatile enough to wear with a pair of trousers for a cute going-out look. Plus they’re like $6 and come in tons of colors that rotate throughout the season. Love love love.

Knit Midi Dresses for Work

I really truly think I’m in my knit midi era — from skirts to dresses I just feel like something finally unlocked in me that makes me love wearing them. I feel like they’re perfect for work but not so formal and stuffy that you can’t wear them out on a date or with friends. I have three dresses that are recent buys that I’m loving right now — a sleeveless from old navy, a long sleeve from h&m, and a long sleeve from abercrombie.

Target Bra Tops

I genuinely don’t know if people are sleeping on these or if I’m just missing the conversation but these are some of my favorite bralettes/bra tops ever. They’re $7, reversible to a v neck or u neck, and super cute for low impact workouts or on their own. I wear anything from an XS to an M — theyre very stretchy.

Graphic Tees

One of my favorite ways to support artists I love and make fashion more personal is by buying my graphic tees from artists I love, instead of reproduced art from larger stores — not that there’s anything wrong with that! For me personally though, especially knowing how much fashion I consume that just goes straight towards billionaires pockets, I love knowing that I can make some small fashion choices that both show off my personality and support real human people creating badass art. Two of my favorite artists’ merch stores are Heavy Slime and Holy Smokes. Check them out below and on IG — especially if you’re from philadelphia or buffalo, respectively ๐Ÿ™‚

*note that Eric at Heavy Slime is off for the holidays, so his store is down atm but will be back soon!*

Supplies to do my nails at home

I’ve been doing my nails at home on and off since the pandemic started, but being unable to find a manicurist I truly loved at a price that felt worth it in my city has led me to fully commit to the at-home nails. Like everyone else, the majority of the stuff I’ve gotten is from amazon, works a charm, and can be shopped at the link below ๐Ÿ™‚

Princess Polly Ellie Set

If I said I wore the skirt from this set at least once a week since I bought it I genuinely don’t think I’d be lying. I bought it in white too (which is a little more sheer) but still absolutely perfect. I will likely continue to wear this skirt every week for the rest of my life.

By the Fireplace Perfume

This perfume isn’t for everyone, but most perfumes aren’t for me anyway. I’m really particular about scents, and personally, smelling like I am literally on fire is the scent that feels most me. It’s warm and smokey and woody and it’s my signature scent, I love her and will buy her forever.

Lulu Dupe Leggings

This year was definitely the year of the amazon dupe, and I think I found a couple “lulu inspired” pairs of leggings that work well enough for me to stop spending the money on aligns for a while. The two pairs I’ve found are good in different ways. They heynuts/hawthorne athletica leggings blew my mind when I first got them. They are identical to aligns in damn near every way, down to the tag. I bought them in two colors and I do love them, but I will say they do not hold up particularly well, falling victim to the same pilling that aligns do, possibly a little faster. That said, if I’m buying leggings that wind up pilling, I’d rather they be $20 than $120, know what I mean? The CRZ yoga ones are in fact buttery soft, I love them so much, but havent had them long enough to speak on durability. Would buy both pairs again and again.

Zara Dress

Bought this dress on a whim and I literally can’t believe a $35 dress makes me look this good. It’s criminal. I can’t believe I haven’t bought the other color yet. Just get it. It’s the perfect LBD to just have.

Packing Cubes

Can’t believe I was so resistant but y’all were so right about this — packing cubes change everything!! I got this affordable set off amazon and now I can’t go on a single trip without them. They’re worth it!!!

Abercrombie Leather Pants

These took the internet by storm this year but they’re right, I love em. I personally prefer the 90s cut as opposed to the ankle straight, but your mileage may vary. I have these in black, brown, and camel and I loooove them, especially the warmer toned ones. I get the 90s in curve love in a short length and I find them the perfect fit for my body type.

H&M Blazers

Another workwear staple that I’ve bought about ten trillion of this year, the H&M blazers are the goat. They finally raised the price from $35 to $50 but I still think they’re worth it. I don’t love any others from H&M as much and I don’t love any blazers from anywhere else as much. These are great in my true size and sized up one for a more oversize look. They come in and out of stock but keep an eye out and you’ll find a gem.

Oak + Fort Coat

Bought this on a whim last winter and it’s been my go-to fall and winter coat. Unlined but not a mess on the inside, still a great weight, and chic enough while still giving a twist of home alone 2 pigeon lady. I love it.

Instant Tanner

This has been my cheat code ever since I saw it on a random tiktok ages ago. I originally picked it up as body makeup to help blend my chest with my neck with my face, considering my neck doesn’t seem to hold self tanner as well. A little of this on a makeup brush blended in is perfect for that. But it’s also perfect for when I’m wearing a skirt in winter and don’t have self tanner on. I’ve also gone as far as spray painting my entire body in this for a pool club in vegas when I wanted to look tan but still be covered in SPF 50. It doesn’t transfer half as much as other instant bronzers/body makeup I’ve tried, I keep it in stock always but it lasts forever, it’s an instant holy grail.

Aritzia Perfect Hoodie

I’ve been bit by the TNA sweatsuit bug like everyone else but this year I finally found the perfect cut/size combo for me. The perfect hoodie in cozy fleece in one size up from my normal is, well, perfect. It gives the look I wanted from the boyfriend hoodie but hangs so much nicer. The hood is huge and perfect but not too heavy. The way it falls at my hips is actually flattering. Expensive loungewear is hard to stomach for a lot of people and I get that but this is worth every penny and I will buy ten of these.

Honeylove Shapewear

I did a lot of research when deciding what kind of shapewear to invest in. Spanx and skims obviously own the game but for me the winner was honeylove. It’s an investment but it holds me in, it’s comfortable enough to wear all day, and it never rolls down or up. I bought and love the superpower short and it’s wonderful under most midi and longer dresses but I want to look into other options for pieces with leg slits or a shorter hemline.

Nippies by B6

I went on a rant about this on tiktok because yeah I dont always wear a bra (my boobs are small I do not need to) and sometimes that’s…visible. When I care a little more about it being visible I wear these nipple covers and they’re my holy grail. They last forever. I get the larger size and they cover almost my whole boob so no puffy nipple cover look.

Brow Combo

This year I think I finally found my perfect brow combo. Periodically, I’ll tint with just for men, which is great bc I have super sparse, light, almost invisible brows. Daily, i’ll spike my brows up with got2b — I like it better than the nyx brow glue, patrick ta, brow freeze, etc. It just works. I’ll comb through with a spoolie then flatten them to my forehead either with the elf brow tool or just with my fingers. Finally, I’ll fill in with the milani weekend brow. It’s interchangeable for me with the nyx pen but imo it lasts longer (both the amount of product and the product on my face) and it’s a little cheaper. This combo is like my ride or die, will never do my brows any other way.

Lip Plumper

I’ve been getting really into lip plumpers this year, especially now that I’ve already had lip filler. When I’m having days when I feel like my lips aren’t lipping or I want a little extra oomph, I love both the too faced and the sephora ones — too faced is more stingy and sephora is more minty, but they’re both great!

Skatie Bikinis

I discovered this brand a while back but I’ve purchased two more bikinis from them this year and they’re just my favorite. They’re so flattering, luxe, soft, never pinch, and are actually true to size — like I wear a small top and medium bottom and it fits. I usually have to size up to a large or xl in swim bottoms, which is fucked because if I’m a size 6 and an XL how inclusive is your range? Anyway I’m not much of a print gal but for me the cuts are so good it’s worth it. My favorite tops are Sarah and Maddie and my favorite bottoms are Suzanne and Salty.

Dynamite Bra Tops

I discovered these this summer and they were my gateway into the world of dynamite and lemme tell ya I love it there. These things are super soft and thick with a really flattering cut. They’re elevated enough to wear out but casual enough to wear with leggings on a coffee run. I grabbed three colors in a mix of small and xs (they run a little larger, but I also have small boobs) and I will get more the second I see another color I like.

Shrug/Bolero

These little shrugs have pretty much tripled my wardrobe as someone who likes to buy a lot of basics for both work and the rest of my life, AND as someone who’s constantly insecure about her arms ๐Ÿ™‚ Not much else to say beyond I love them!

Supplies to do my lashes at home

Similar to with my nails, I’ve been doing these on and off at home for years but just never been able to find someone here who can do my lashes the way I love. Fortunately, I think this year I’ve finally nailed exactly the perfect products for my lashes. First, the lashes themselves are from flutterhabit. I’ve tried a ton of these companies but I always go back to them. The happy mediums are my absolute favorite, but I also like the flirt and sometimes the sweetheart — they all work best for my smaller, deeper set eyes — and I usually wind up only using three of the four sections. For glue, I promise you I have tried it all — falscara is the best. It’s never wet enough to make your lashes slide off while you’re trying to apply them and always lasts me at least a week. I coat my lashes first, then add a bit to each lash section. I apply with the falscara tweezers, seal with the sealer, and clamp with either the falscara tweezers again or with another set of lash tweezers that are more contoured to my eye. When it comes time to remove, I’m sure the remover works fine but baby oil gets everything right off and is so cheap! I haven’t gotten lash extensions since February but my lashes have always looked good.

Pull & Bear Boots

I love these boots with my whole heart. I’m wearing them to work 9 times out of 10. The perfect height, SO comfortable to walk in — the only problem is they sell out all the time. I have them in beige and black patent and search the site often to see if they’ve brought them out in other colors.

Aritzia Ribcage Contour Tees

We all love aritzia, we all love aritzia’s contour line, I personally love a teeny tiny crop tee. Found these this summer and instantly bought two AND I have the brown in my cart. So thick, so flattering, not see through, and just the perfect super crop length.

Aquaphor

Ex accutane hottie speaking, aquaphor is the only thing I’ll use on my lips anymore. I’m sure la neige is great or whatever but this is the holy grail. The little two pack of the advanced healing ointment is that bitch.

Inflatable Kayak

This is such a wild card but after living in the PNW for two summers, we finally pulled the trigger on these this year and I hate that I didn’t sooner. They’re so easy to use, just store them in your car and blow them up with an automatic pump (or the one they include) and you’re ready to kayak on all of the beautiful PNW lakes in like ten minutes. We even took them to Canada this year and kayaked on Moraine lake. It was absolutely unforgettable and if you live anywhere even moderately outdoorsy I couldn’t recommend enough. Don’t forget the life jackets!
