How I Save Money Online Shopping with Honey Gold

Use honey to save money online

Excuse me in advance, because this post is about to sound like an advertisement. But trust me, I am not getting paid for it. I wish I was! But I really just want to share with you guys my favorite way to save money online shopping.

I online shop…a lot. Probably too much. If you’ve ever told your boyfriend, roommate, partner, parents — whoever — to not check the mail so they don’t see how many packages you’ve received this week, you probably understand where I’m at. You don’t exactly start a lifestyle blog if you’re not too into clothing, beauty, and home decor.

BUT since I’m just starting this blog (literally this week) I’m not exactly rolling in sponsored post and affiliate marketing cash. And as someone who works full time in sports and lives in a major city, I’ve definitely found the value in pinching my pennies when it comes to online shopping.

And after a long time, I’ve definitely found my partner in crime for saving money online shopping. Her name is Honey, and I love her.

This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I may receive a small commission if you shop through these links at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting me through these links! For more information, check out the disclaimer here.

You may have heard of her, or she may be totally new to you, but I literally do not online shop without Honey.

So what is Honey? Honey is a website that solely exists to save you time and money online shopping. It’s super easy to use. All you do is sign up for a totally free account and you have access to a ton of awesome features.

Here’s what Honey does for you:

  1. Honey provides you with trusted promo codes — no more copy-pasting a dozen out of date options from RetailMeNot and hoping something works.
  2. Honey allows you to save products to a “droplist,” where they monitor the price of an item and give you a heads up if something goes on sale or changes in price. It’ll also track history of the item’s price so you know if you’re getting a good deal.
  3. Honey rewards you simply for doing the shopping you were going to do anyway. You collect these rewards in the form of Honey Gold, which you can redeem for gift cards to places like Target, Sephora, Amazon and more (I love using these to stock up on some of my Amazon beauty must haves).

And here’s my unsponsored, overly enthusiastic Honey Gold review:

I can’t express to you how emphatically I recommend shopping through Honey. It’s to the point for me where if I’m online shopping on my phone I’ll literally switch to my computer, where I have the Honey chrome extension installed, and check out there so I can get the rewards.

The chrome extension is amazing. All you do is go about your business online shopping like regular, and then when you go to check out, the Honey extension will pop up with a window telling you how many promo codes they’ll try for you. Just click the button and let it do its thing!

And don’t worry if you can’t find a coupon code that works. Honey also activates Honey Gold, a rewards program that lets you earn points that you can redeem for gift cards later. The rewards add up fast, especially when you shop a lot! Here are a few things I earned rewards on just doing my normal Christmas shopping.

Then I redeemed those rewards for a Sephora gift card to spend on a little Christmas present for myself!

Get Free Gift Cards Just From Shopping

Honey Gold is probably my favorite thing about Honey. They’re constantly offering rewards for so many different websites, and even when you’re shopping, sometimes they just pop up and offer you bonus rewards for things you’re already looking at. In my opinion, doing literally nothing to save money online shopping is my ideal way to do it.

It’s just so easy to literally click one little button to activate Honey Gold, and then completely forget about it until a month or two later when you can redeem it for a gift card! Redeeming those gift cards is just a fun treat yourself moment that I personally would define as ~self care~

The droplist feature is also amazing, especially for tracking larger purchases. When you have the item up online — like this camera — the Honey extension will generate a button on the page to led you add it to your droplist. You can set which size or model of the item you want (so you won’t be notified for all of them if you’re looking for a specific thing), the length of time you want to stay notified for, and the percent off you want it to be to get notified about it. You can also see a price history so you know if it’s trending cheaper or more expensive.

Ok, this was long-winded and super advertising-y, but I really did mean every word. I straight up love Honey, and use it every time I shop online. If youre not already signed up, use my link to sign up FREE and you’ll get 500 Honey Gold after your first purchase. Thats equivalent to a $5 gift card. For literally nothing. Like. Why. Wouldn’t. You?

Ok, that’s that for my Honey Gold review. I promise I’ll hop off my soapbox now. Happy shopping squad!
