Blackbough Swimwear Review, Try On Haul, and Promo Code

Hi friends! I’m here to chat with you today about one of my absolute favorite swim brands, Blackbough Swim. Over the last year or so I’ve accumulated a pretty good amount of Blackbough bikinis, so I figured I’d do a little Blackbough review and try on haul for you guys! I’m not affiliated with Blackbough in any way (I’m just a big fan), so I’m happy to offer you totally honest reviews of my favorite Blackbough swimsuits, blackbough swim sizing, and even a promo code for 10% off! I know buying swim online can be a huge pain so hopefully this is helpful for you to figure out what Blackbough swimsuit to buy and what some of my favorites are!

(Related: if you’re wondering if Blackbough Swim is legit, they are!)

If you’re a video person, check out my (first ever, yikes!) youtube video below showing off all the Blackbough bikinis I have, my thoughts, and try-ons. If you’re more of a reader, keep scrolling and I’ll tell you what I think!

Ok, if you’re more of a reader, here are the Blackbough Swim bikinis I have and my reviews, thoughts on sizing, fit, advice, and everything you need to know!

To start, I’m 5’3″, 135lbs and 34b. I typically wear a size 6/28, and am a small/medium in most clothing. My weight is pretty evenly distributed, though I do carry a little more weight in my hips/butt and arms/shoulders. For that reason buying bikini bottoms that fit well and look flattering without pinching me is always a challenge, but I love blackbough’s bikini bottoms. For almost all blackbough suits, I wear a small top and a large bottom.

Blackbough Bonnie Top and Riri Bottom in Flame Review

Bonnie Top

The Bonnie top is a bandeau style top with removable straps. It clasps in the back and it’s not padded. I love this top with the straps on and off — the straps are great for support, but going strapless is awesome for avoiding tan lines as well. I have this in a small in the color Flame.

Riri Bottom

The Riri bottom is a super sexy, high cut bottom with gold ring detailing. It’s got thinner straps that sit high on your hips and elongate your legs. It’s a little bit thinner than some other BB bottoms I have, and runs a bit smaller as well. I’d recommend sizing up in this. I have it in an XL in the color Flame.

Tona Top

The Tona top is my favorite Blackbough bikini top! It’s a very basic style top with a twist in the front that brings a little excitement. It has adjustable straps and clasps in the back. It’s supportive and comfortable while still being a little sporty and sexy. I personally find this so flattering on me, it’s my go-to swimsuit! I have it in a small both in Red and Emerald.

Stassy Bottom

The Stassy bottom is my holy grail bikini bottom. I wish every bottom ever was cut like this. It’s a high cut V shape similar to the Riri, but with thicker straps. It’s seamless and so comfortable. The back coverage is very minimal (closer to a thong), but I find that just works the best with my bigger butt and I love it. I have the Stassy bottom in a large in Red, Emerald, and White Flint, though my White Flint one runs a little small on me.

Blackbough Paris Top and Bottom in Sunburst Review

Paris Top

The Paris top is such a unique bikini. It’s a one shoulder bikini top that ties up and can be worn with the knot in the front or the back. It’s definitely a little bit risky — the coverage on the top isn’t something I’d make any sudden movements in for fear of slipping a nip, but I’ve seen girls of all sizes wear it and look amazing. I have it in a medium in Sunburst, though I think I could’ve sized down to a small.

Paris Bottom

The matching Paris bottoms are some of my favorites. They’re very similar to the Riri and Stassy bottoms, in that they’re high cut, V shaped and have skinny straps. The back coverage is a bit fuller than the Stassy, and there’s more give in the fabric than the Riri. I hope they make them in more colors soon because I love them! I have these bottoms in an XL in Sunburst, though I think I’d be fine with a large.

Blackbough Swimwear Willow and Maui in Mango Review

Willow Top

The Willow Top is an underwire top that would be so so flattering on ladies who need a little more support. For me personally, I like it but I don’t find that with my chest size I need the underwire, and therefore tend to go for tops that don’t have any. It has adjustable straps and clasps in the back. I have this top in a small in Mango.

Maui Bottom

The Maui bottom is a super basic, universally flattering bikini bottom. It can be worn low or high on the hips and has a little more coverage than the Stassy bottom. It comes in a ton of different colors as well. I have this in a large in Mango, though I wish I sized up to an XL because it feels a little snug on me.

Paige Top

The Paige set is one of Blackbough Swim’s newer releases for summer 2020. It’s a cute skinny strap bikini top with ruched detailing and an asymmetrical keyhole in the front. The straps are adjustable and it clasps in the back. While you can shift around the ruching in the front, the keyhole is sewn into place so you can’t fully adjust it — personally I don’t love that as much, and wish I could make the keyhole on mine a little more even. I have this top in a small in Candy Pink.

Paige Bottom

The Paige bottom is such a cute spin on a string bottom, with the double waist straps and adjustable coverage. Unlike the top, you can fully adjust the ruching on the bottoms to fit the coverage you’re most comfortable with. I have these bottoms in an XL in Candy Pink, because I was nervous the waist straps would dig in a little bit. Feels to me like that was a good call, as the XL fits me comfortably.

Cleo Top

The Cleo top is a traditional almost sports bra like bikini top with a knot in the front and wide-set straps. The knotted front is so so flattering for all chest sizes, and the fit feels secure and comfortable. There are no closures or adjustments on this bikini, so it’s just a pull-on. I have this top in small in NY Noir.

Blackbough Liv Bikini in Spring Fling Review

Liv Top

The Liv set is another new for 2020, and it’s fantastic. It’s a new twist on the traditional string bikini and is totally adjustable. I love how it has adjustable shoulder straps and ties in the front, instead of around the back and neck like most string bikinis do. The little gold details on the strings top everything off and are super cute. The one thing I don’t love as much about this bikini is the straps do get twisted fairly easily, and they can be kind of a pain to fix. If that doesn’t bother you though (I live with it just fine!), this bikini is one of my favorites especially for summer 2020. I have the top in a small in Spring Fling.

Liv Bottom

Like the top, the Liv bottom is a string bikini. The bottom is completely adjustable, so you can tie the sides and adjust the bottom to your comfortable coverage level. I think this bikini is so so sexy, but also very risky! This is definitely more of a “lounging poolside” bikini than a “crashing waves” bikini, but it’s so cute either way. I have the bottom in a large in Spring Fling.

Blackbough Lola Top and Bottom in Marshmallow Tie Dye Review

Lola Top

The Lola top is something I never would’ve pictured myself loving, but I totally do. It’s a ruched, almost milkmaid-style bandeau top with a sewn-in front bow detail, a detachable neck strap and no other closures. The ruching around the top elastic prevents it from digging in and making unflattering lines, and I think the cut itself is just so unique and cute. I have it in small in Marshmallow, which is their amazing rainbow tie dye (and I did my nails to match!).

Lola Bottom

The Lola bottom is one of my favorite cuts, and I feel would be super flattering if you have been blessed/cursed with a large booty, or can definitely enhance what you’ve got. It’s a higher cut bottom similar to the Paris or Stassy but with ruffles around the edges that are so flattering! Like the top, the ruffles prevent the bottoms from digging in and are so so comfortable on. I have this in a large in Marshmallow.
