Aside from staying inside and away from others and frequent hand washing, the best way to do that is to wear a face mask when you’re in public or around other people. Especially if you’re traveling during the pandemic, it’s important to wear a face mask whenever you’re near others. Face masks provide source control, which is a way to protect those around you from your germs. Even if you don’t think you have anything to spread, it’s scientifically proven that face masks are an effective way to slow the spread of Covid-19. So like… wear one!

Surgical and N95 masks are great, of course, but PPE should ideally be prioritized for healthcare providers and essential workers. In the months since the pandemic began though, cute face masks have become much more accessible and much more advanced, with many including filters so you can feel protected and cute. So I figured I’d share with you where to buy some cute face masks online, and 10 cute face masks I thought would be perfect to complete any outfit AND keep you and those around you safe. As efficacy goes, there isn’t a ton of information out there. One study by Duke however recently showed that basic cotton face masks are one of the more effective non-medical face mask options, while knit masks, bandanas, and neck fleeces were notably less helpful. Because of this information, I’m going to be sharing only cotton face masks and/or face masks with filters, or placement for filters. My personal preference is a mask shaped to be fitted to the face as opposed to one styled like a surgical mask, but I’ll include both options here.
1. Basic Black Face Mask
It’s hard to go wrong with a basic black face mask, and I’m a fan of this one from Amazon. It’s fully adjustable, washable, conforms to your face, and comes with four filters. It’s prime eligible and ships same-day! While it’s obviously nothing flashy, a basic black face mask is a perfect cute face mask option when you want to keep the focus on your clothes.
2. Menswear-Inspired Face Masks
In my personal opinion, we as a society have moved past the need of gendered face masks, but I unfortunately don’t make the rules. So for the next item on this list, I have this two pack of mens face masks from Target, but I’ll tell you between you and me I think any gender can wear them just fine. I love that they’re neutral, subtly-patterned, and affordable. They are 100% cotton and come with a filter pocket, but no filters.
3. Floral Face Mask
These cute face masks from Etsy come in floral patters and can even be customized with a little heart! They’re a soft cotton jersey, washable, reusable, and come with a pocket for a filter, though one isn’t included with your purchase.
4. Leopard Print Face Mask Set
We love a cheetah girl moment, and these subtle animal-print face masks are no exception. I love how cute these face masks would be coordinated with a leopard print skirt or shoes, or standing alone as a statement piece in al all-black outfit. These 100% cotton face masks come in a set of three, but are much more similar to surgical masks in their design. They do not include a filter pocket, so it’s important to wash these masks after each wear.
5. Boho Face Mask
If you need the perfect cute face mask to top off any boho look, I’m completely obsessed with this simple floral one from Target. This face mask is super affordable, 100% cotton, and comes with a pocket for a filter, though it doesn’t include a filter with purchase. If orange isn’t your thing, it comes in 7 different boho patterns that will perfectly complete any outfit!
6. Bright Cute Face Masks
If you’re a little bit of everything but still want to make a statement, try this set of three bright face masks from Aerie. Cheetah, polka dot, and floral prints in bright warm tones are a cute addition to any outfit! I love these because they’re cotton and come with a filter pocket, but also have a metal nosepiece to ensure a snug fit.
7. Pastel Tie Dye Mask
We all know tie dye is having a major moment, so why should your face mask miss out on the fun? This pastel tie dye face mask from Amazon is cute enough to make a statement but subtle enough to not take over your whole look. It’s 100% cotton, has adjustable straps, a filter pocket, and comes in multiple sizes and tie dye prints. Nothing says summer fun in a global pandemic like a tie dye face mask!!!! *screaming internally*
8. Neutral Chic Face Masks
If you don’t want your face mask overpowering your outfit, give this three pack of neutral face masks from Asos a try. I am personally obsessed with the easy warm tones in this set. These masks are 100% cotton and have adjustable straps and a wired nose piece for a snug fit.
9. Face Mask With Chain
If you’re looking to splurge on an absolutely stunning face mask, look no further than the original face mask with chain by Second Wind. This 100% cotton mask comes with a pocket for filters and a beautiful gold chain to keep your mask around your neck and not floating around in a bag or on a gross table. Extra? Couldn’t be me. But if it’s you and you want to make sure your face mask is having an absolute moment, give this sequin face mask from Revolve a try. For your complete information, it is super non-medical grade, and not even 100% cotton, so please keep in mind that this mask is more for fashion than anything else. But seriously. It’s a sequin face mask, so you probably knew that already.
